The team at Holdsworth Klimowski Construction works with corporate clients and architects to develop and complete a full range of commercial construction projects. Our goal is to deliver a product is cost-efficient and effective for the needs of business owners.

Our commercial construction projects include:

Getinge USA

Holdsworth Klimowski Construction completed a $5 million renovation of Getinge’s Rochester facility in 1997. The project included multiple areas of work, phasing, substantial factory upgrades and a complete site work package.

Since that initial project, we have completed several other maintenance projects for Getinge. In 2008, HKC was hired by Getinge as construction manager for a 3 phase renovation project with a budget totally $3 million. Phase 1 involved the construction of a 20,000 sq. ft. upscale office space, including a new entrance at Getinge Sourcing. Phase 2 involved constructing a new 17,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art showroom at Getinge USA. This showroom is used for displaying their inventory of medical sterilizers, operating room lighting, dental equipment, and more. Phase 3 consisted of a 8,000 sq. ft. renovation of additional office space, a technical resource area, and a combination kitchen and breakroom facility.

Valley Cadillac Hummer

Valley Cadillac-Hummer is one of Rochester’s most established automotive dealerships. In 2004, HKC completed a $2.5 million project for the dealership. The project consisted of construction of a completely new state of the art dealership building. This also included the creation of a Hummer “test track” adjacent to the new dealership.

We are are proud to have a long and successful history of working with county, state, and municipal authorities.

Our municipal construction and renovation work includes:

Ontario County Jail

Our $7 million, 130,000 sq. ft. project for Ontario County included the construction of a new 276-bed jail. The brick and block building includes state-of-the-art, pre-cast modular cells, new administrative offices, and a central sheriff’s office.

Monroe County Community Hospital

Monroe Community Hospital (MCH) provides quality long-term care to individuals with chronic or complex health issues. It is a county-owned, 566-residential health care facility, serving residents as young as eight weeks to adults more than 100 years old.

The two major projects HKC has completed for MCH total more than $4 million. For the Crossover Building, we completed a masonry restoration, completely re-pointed the building, and reconstructed a parapet wall. MCH is a historic build, and our experience in historic preservation was a key to successfully renovating the main floor. Our team skillfully reconstructed the ornate plaster arches and sculptures, and installed precast concrete concrete and brick, arched and radius structures to match the historic Romanesque Revival exterior. Many areas of required high-end finishes include terrazzo floors, mosaic tiles, and custom fypon fabrication.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Building

The centerpiece of our $3.6 million construction project for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is a completely new 20,000 sq. ft. facility. This incorporates engineering, administration, and the 911 Communications Center. This project also included constructing a separate vehicle garage for sheriff patrol cars. Churches & Historic Buildings

The team at Holdsworth Klimowski is proud to work on renovation and construction projects for historic buildings and churches. We recognize the importance of projects like this and the social responsibility we have to preserve buildings with architectural significance. We are proud to have the experience to successfully plan, manage and complete historic building renovations to churches and other structures.

Our construction experience on churches and historic buildings includes:

Saint Paul’s Lutheran

We worked closely with the owner and architect to complete a design/build plan to bring this project within budget at $1.8 million. In addition to renovations to the church and sanctuary, we completed construction on a new 12,000 sq. ft. addition. We also completed extensive site work including retention ponds, a bus loop, parking, and a soccer field.

The new 12,000 sq. ft. building incorporated a pre-engineered, metal building structure. To provide comfortable, year-round heating and cooling, a high-end, state-of-the-art mechanical system was installed. This new structure is connected to the existing school to create a new atrium and restrooms. All work included wood wainscot, high-end finishes, and more.

Saint Anne Church

This $2.5 million renovation involved working in both the church and rectory. During the project, we constructed a new concrete and brick exterior entrance and vestibule and added a new social hall and kitchen. Both the main entrance and social hall incorporated high ceilings and windows. We completed all work with high end finishes including oak railings, banisters, and staircases.

Saint Thomas Episcopal

For our $350,000 renovation project to the historic Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church, we constructed a new elevator shaft and installed a new elevator in the center of the existing building. We relocated the building’s utilities and new meeting rooms and offices were constructed. All work included wood finishes that match the original architectural design.

Christ Episcopal

The construction of Christ Church began in 1855 on land bought from a nursery on East Avenue. The first service in the new brick building was on Christmas Day of that year. In 1894, English architect Robert Gibson designed the church interior. It is decorated with Tiffany mosaics and stained glass.

Over the past 15 years, HKC has completed various phases of a Master Renovation Plan. This includes exterior masonry repair, copper gutter replacement, roof repairs, and repairs to custom woodwork and ornate interior plaster. Our team has also made structural repairs to maintain the building’s historic integrity and preserve the bell tower.

Hochstein School of Music

Since 1920, Hochstein School of Music & Dance has served as Rochester’s community school of the arts. Each year, an exceptional 140-member faculty teaches more than 4,000 Hochstein students.

Holdsworth Klimowski Construction completed a $1.1 million renovation of the Hochstein Music Performance Hall. This is the centerpiece of the Hochstein complex and resides in a historic 18th Century Church. Location and the need to keep the school operating during construction were among the many challenges of this this unique project. The HKC team successfully completed upgrades of structural, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, constructed a new stage—matching the unique wood and plaster—and completed a restoration of the gold leaf dome.

Mount Hope Cemetery

Mount Hope Cemetery has served as a final resting place for over a third of million people since 1838.
The 197 acres contain mausoleums dug deep into hillsides and everywhere you can see myriad symbols of Victorian funerary art. Among its most famous residents are civil rights leader Frederick Douglass, women’s rights leader Susan B. Anthony, and Kodak founder George Eastman.

Throughout the years, Holdsworth Klimowski Construction has completed numerous restoration projects to the cemetery’s historic Upper Gatehouse. These include rebuilding of concrete and sandstone exterior stairs, as well as complete masonry restoration. We also rebuilt the architectural railing system to duplicate the original design, added a new custom wood cornice to match the existing woodwork and installed a new slate roof. Our team has also completed various aspects of interior restoration and completed exterior painting.
